Zyklon B

Zyklon B was developed in the 1920s as a pesticide. In the concentration camps, Zyklon B was used first as a disinfectant for clothing. After experiments on Soviet POWs in September 1941, it turned out that it could be employed as a cheap and effective means of mass destruction, and from 1942 on it was used to kill large numbers of human beings by gassing them.
